Get started early…
We suggest that ‘sooner rather than later’ is the order of the day! Creating a great Shine project takes time and effort, particularly if it’s being completed in your free time.
Show your interest in Shine by getting registered with via email so we can get you set up on our system and offer as much assistance as we can.
We enjoy a regular dialogue with schools and we are proud of long-time associations – many of our entrants go back some years. However Shine is a national prize open to all regardless of their funding, so we are extending our outreach every year.
In particular we would be very keen to hear from new entrants, from the widest range of schools, around the UK.

The Shine judging calendar
- As entries for the year close, the Shine Committee convenes to consider every single entry
- Then in mid-May a panel of distinguished industry professionals review the entries and agree on the nominees and winners
- Shortly afterwards, nominated schools are informed as we announce the shortlist for the year’s annual awards ceremony
- The culmination of the competition is a spectacular gala awards ceremony, where all nominated schools are invited, at Stationers’ Hall in the City of London each summer at the end of June or beginning of July
