Writing newspaper articles

One way of creating a school media project is a short series of lessons with challenges, homework and a series of responses where students can work in teams.

These rewarding projects can be pulled together relatively swiftly and groups can create a set of articles where two or three groups are eventually combined to deliver a magazine, or single groups produce a short piece of work such as a pilot podcast.

Your students’ projects will then almost certainly be eligible for Shine and next year’s awards scheme.

Shine has a series of lesson plans for teachers to download here, for free. All we ask is for your email address so we can keep in touch.

This plan is specifically about writing newspaper articles and has been prepared by the team from Young Writers.
